Crysoptix has developed coatable materials for commercial production of Thin Birefringent Film™ (TBF™)* retarders via slot-die technology. The advanced technology is based on organic materials — lyotropic liquid crystals, which can be aligned by shear force during the coating process. Crysoptix retarders are produced by coating a nematic lyotropic mesogenic material on glass or plastic substrate with subsequent drying; the molecular orientation achieved in a liquid layer is fixed in an anisotropically ordered submicron solid film. TBF coating technology does not require pre-formation of alignment layer on the substrate surface.
• Coatable on glass or any plastic or foil • Thin film with high birefringence
• Patternable and customized to 3D display applications
• Scalable technology with use of existing slot-die equipment
Product Benefits
• Efficient LCD viewing angle compensation • High thermal stability (250 °C)
• No alignment layer
• No UV alignment
